According to a Seattle Times blog this morning, the app is for iPhone and Android users before, during and after an earthquake.
The earthquake app, currently supports English and Spanish, and offers a “Shake Zone Impact Map,” disaster updates for local fires or tsunami warnings and info on nearby emergency shelters. The app also features a flashlight, strobe light and audible alarm and a can quickly notify your social media friends with a one-touch “I’m safe” message.
Even without mobile connectivity, preloaded emergency-response tips and plans would still be accessible. The Red Cross also has popular First Aid and Hurricane apps.
It looks like I’m the 15th person to install the Android version (it is new!) – but it already looks very polished and recommended. Download it from: iPhone and Android stores.
