  • The lobby of Vashon Center for the Arts, south of town at 19600 Vashon Highway at the intersection with Cemetery Road.
  • Subway restaurant, in town at 17408 Vashon Highway one block north of the intersection with Bank Road.

Both locations are offering free water or soft drinks to cooling center drop ins. Folks in need of transportation to reach the cooling centers can arrange a trip by contacting Vashon Community Van at 206-263-5901 or email [email protected], or go online to:

Although the King County library would normally be designated as an official cooling center, it will not be opening on Sunday and Monday. To fill the gap, the VashonBePrepared nonprofit is covering the cost of staff time, cleaning and hydration for the two locations that are lending their space during this heat emergency.
